The storeroom My parents married in 1959, and moved to a house on Jalan Baru in Tranquerah.
The shop on No.7, Riverside, which Jit Chiang eventually bought from
that Japanese barber-cum-spy, was on a 99-year lease. Sometime in the
mid-60s (my father's memory is shaky here), Lim Brothers moved across
the road to No.20, Riverside (or Jalan Laksamana now), just a few doors
away from my grandfather's former employers, the De Souza Brothers. |
