[Midnight in Gemas where the KTM railway track splits, south to Singapore and north-easterly to Tumpat in Kelantan]

For my second train excursion, I had a plan. I would take the long way round to Thailand. I would venture south. To Gemas, where people and packages exchanged trains under the cover of darkness. From here the train surreptitiously curved to the east coast, where I was woken up by the fetid stench of Pasir Mas’ wet market in the morning, and got off at Wakaf Bharu. One teksi sapu ride later I was in Kota Bharu.
